A catch-all mailbox is one that collects all the messages sent to invalid addresses. For instance, if your address is info@domain.com, but someone misspells it and sends an email to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have configured. Just one single mailbox per domain name can have this feature enabled and thus you will never miss messages because the other side has an out-of-date email address or has made a spelling mistake. The downside of using a catch-all mailbox is that you may begin receiving lots of unsolicited email messages, but this issue can be rectified by using anti-spam filtering software. It is also essential to keep in mind that a mailbox with an enabled catch-all functionality cannot redirect incoming email messages to a 3rd-party email address.

Catch-all Emails in Shared Hosting

In case you’ve got a Linux shared hosting package with us and you wish to activate the catch-all option for a specific mailbox that you have in the account, it’ll take literally only a click of the mouse in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to achieve that. A catch-all button is available on the right-hand side of each and every email address that you have set up under any domain registered in the account. You can choose one address per domain name by clicking the respective button. This will activate the feature right away, so all messages sent to miswritten email addresses will be delivered there. Clicking the button again will deactivate the catch-all feature. In case you have active email forwarding, our system will display a warning notification and you won’t be able to enable the catch-all feature unless you disable the forwarding or you can simply choose some other mailbox to be the catch-all one.

Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Hosting

A catch-all address can be created with a couple of mouse clicks in case you’ve got a Linux semi-dedicated package with us. The semi-dedicated account will be administered via our custom-created Hepsia Control Panel and you’ll be able to set up email addresses with any domain registered there. To enable the catch-all option for a certain mailbox, you’ll need to click on the sign with the same name, which will be next to each email address. Disabling the feature can be achieved in the same way and will not take more than a click either. In case a catch-all mailbox has already been enabled for a certain domain name, you’ll get a warning notification. The same is valid if the mailbox that you wish to be a catch-all one has email forwarding enabled, as our system will never change or disable anything automatically.
