Dot NAME Domain Name Registrations

Established in 2001, the Dot NAME universal top-level domain is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are famous by. At first, only 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you desired to acquire john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered third-level names remained working.
